DIALING 9-1-1
When dialling 911, your call goes to the 911 Communication Center, located at Central Fire Station in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The 911 Dispatcher will answer your call with “911, do you need Police, Fire or Ambulance”?
If the call is Police or Ambulance related, the 911 dispatcher will immediately transfer your call to a dispatcher with the RNC, RCMP or Eastern Health. You can then speak directly with the emergency service you require. If your call is fire or rescue related, the 911 dispatcher will begin asking a series of questions to determine your location and details of the fire. The 911 Dispatcher will then send the appropriate apparatus to respond based on the nature of the call.
