I recieve a call from the Fire Department asking for donation what should I do?
The St.John's Regional Fire Department does not solicit funds from our residents. The Firefighters' Association, Local 1075 does conduct fund raising drives at least once a year. If you have a question regarding alleged fund raising activities we will be pleased to speak with you and verfy wether or not the solicitation is legitimate.
How do I receive a copy of a fire report?
You can request a copy of a fire report in person at 5 Fort Townshend, by phone (709-576-8683). Please include the date and address of the incident with your request.
Does the fire department service fire extinguishers?
The fire department does not service fire extinguishers. There are many fire extinguishers companies in the telephone book that have proper equipment to service them.
Do you have fire station tours or fire department visits to my school, church, etc.?
Yes. We are happy to schedule tours of our fire station for your school or civic group. Our Fire Prevention Inspectors will also visit your location to present fire and life safety education programs.
Is counseling available if my child is setting fires?
Yes, call Fire Prevention Officer at 576-3905 for information on Juvenile Fire Setter Counseling.
Why does a fire truck come to my house for a medical emergency?
All St.John's Regional Firefighters are trained in CPR, First-Aid, Oxygen Therapy and Defibrilation. Firefighters can be on scene in an average of less than 6 minutes. This quick response allows for life-saving care to begin on a sick or dying patient before MEDIC arrives.
How can I find where the closest hydrant or fire station is to my building?
Due to insurance requirements many homeowners need to know the distance to the nearest hydrant and station. The Water Works department is responsible for the hydrants. Please call 311 and they will supply you with the information. The SJRFD can give you the nearest fire station, but is not able to determine hydrant distances.
