Fire Prevention Division
A Fire Prevention Officer (Captain), a Lieutenant and 3 Inspectors are the crew that carries out public fire safety education, inspections duties, code enforcement, and building plan reviews in the City. They receive numerous requests each year from the public, industry, business and community groups seeking presentations on Fire Prevention education.
Popular Fire Prevention Programs and Lectures include:
Lean Not to Burn - teaches caution and fire safty behaviours to elementary school children in a way that they can understand and remember.
Hazard House - the mobile Hazard House creates awareness about fire hazards for all ages.
Evacuation Planning - education business, schools and citizens on developing a fire evacuation plan for their building or home.
Sparky the Fire Dog - helping make fire prevention fun for kids.
